Fixes #492. References #501.

Waits for pending state changes in SetupRingBuffer(), and 
disables an apparently broken sanity check in SetReadThreadSocket().

This prevents the segfault, but I still have to look at why the
switch from LiveTV to WatchingRecording isn't working properly.
