 So the transition problem happens because the PVR-350 doesn't start
 playing until it's internal buffer has a good deal of data, but in LiveTV
 there simply isn't that much data in the file at the ringbuffer switch so
 the decoder hits the EOF and gives up.

 I'm haven't looked at why the UI becomes unresponsive, but I've seen it a
 couple times.
