Comment:

 It looks like it may in fact be a permissions problem.

 The multiple retries are because we need to retry when the file is
 something like a recording that is just starting and we are trying to read
 it. We never check for a permission problems, since normally a permissions
 problem like this would make the program completely unusable.

 But even so, MythTV shouldn't crash on this.
