 Attached are a gdb backtrace and log for a backend segfault during
 recording.  This is from svn 9218, but it's been around since before svn
 8884 (I just haven't had the time to properly trace it until now -- I'll
 try to narrow it down a little more.)

 This is from a backend only system running linux 2.6.15.3 with a pair of
 hd-3000 cards in it.
