 I also have this problem. It seems that this problem is not unique to
 MythTV. According to a user in this thread, mplayer also has this problem.

 For me this problem occurs when updating from xorg-server 1.0.2-!r7 to
 1.1.1-!r1 (which is a dependency of xorg-x11-7.1). Downgrading to
 1.0.2-!r7 solves the problem for me.
