Comment(by anonymous):

You may want to try running mythbackend with the --noautoexpire and
--nohousekeeping options. This is one of the the things I tried durring my
3 months of chasing this "bug/feature". Running mythbackend this way
helped with the freezing as well, however it also lets all the LiveTV
recordings build up without deleting any. I was thinking of using a script
to run mythbackend with those options until 4:00 AM then run mythbackend
with no options for an hour or so, then run mythbackend with said options
again. But I just couldn't bring myself to do that much "rigging".

Another thing that seemed to help with the freezing was setting the
playback speed to .95(through mythtv interface) or even .99(through
mysqladmin). However this will cause long LiveTV seesions to get out of
time with real world clock :(. I thought that buy setting it to .99, I
wouldn't be able to see a big time discrepency(or at least I wouldn't mind
it) but alas, I was wrong. So I kept debugging until I found the above
 mysql settings.

I also tried the xvmc as the plackback decoder(using a FX5200), that did
help a little with the freezing, but it didn't stop it. And I really
didn't care for the quality. So I'm still using Standard(ffmpeg).

I think that is all I tried(hard to remember 3 months of debugging). Make
sure that your hard drive is set to I/O support = 3 (32-bit w/sync)(if
your using an IDE drive) with hdparm. If it's not you will want to set it
and probably manually set some other hard drive settings(depending on your
 hard drive).
