 I've been looking at this every now and then for a month or so but haven't
 made much progress.  I have found that you can also see the problem if you
 change the aspect ratio around - the only aspect ratio that has the menu
 highlighted in the right place is 4:3.  Any zoomed in modes or 16:9 ratio
 results in that highlight being in the wrong spot.

 My problem now is that I haven't yet been able to find how/where the menu
 highlighting is rendered/calculated.  If someone could point me in the
 right direction, I'd be happy to take a bigger swing at this one ;)
