Comment:

 Feature Request without patch.

 It's correct to don't auto expire in used programs. And your screwed in
 that situation (almost filled disc and no recordings to auto expirer)
 anyway if the second program is too long.

 The correct solution would be to stop the commflag/transcode and delete it
 then.
