 when scanning, new channels found get a channel number. the logic of
 choosing that number (is it the stream id ? ) creates multiple channels
 with same channel number, and at the same time, big gaps between channel
 numberss.

 is it possible to assign channel numbers differently ?
 for example: incrementally ?
