Comment:

 You can already do something like this.

 If you press 'F' you can filter 'All My Music' to show only the entries
 that match the method you chose from the menu.

 For example if you select 'Smart Playlists' from the menu and choose 'All
 tracks from 80s' then 'All My Music' will only show entries for tracks
 that have the Year set somewhere in the 80's. The advantage is that it
 works for all the methods to create a playlist available from the filter
 menu.
