 I just applied strace to mythwelcome, and this select is called many many
 times:
 {{{
 read(3, 0x9bba34, 4096)                 = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily
 unavailable)
 select(16, [3 15], [], [], {0, 12129})  = 0 (Timeout)
 }}}

 I cannot figure out where in mythtv this call is made! Can someone point
 me in the right direction?
