 mythtv-HOWTO-5, in all the methods it is distributed (official web page,
 tarball, and the copy that is on the mediawiki) is outdated.  It contains
 the following advice:

 <<The first is to download the latest release in tarball format and
 compile. The tarball release of MythTV should work on a wide variety of
 systems and should be the preferred method for new users.>>

 Unfortunately, the tarball is not actively maintained, and is therefore
 outdated.
