 I can only conclude that there's some peculiarity with your local FOX
 affiliate's encoder that is causing issues with MythTV.

 Yes, that's entirely possible. I'll have to try recording programs from
 the ABC station, which is the only other local one broadcasting in 720p,
 to see if it shows the same behavior.
