Comment(by Andreas <miscdreas at dslextreme.com>):

I have set up a test system with openSUSE 11.1 (Beta2) and I see the same
video stutter roughly every 1 to 1.5 seconds with 720p60 content. The
patch posted by dl fixed that problem with my version of 0.21.fixes
 (Revision 17789).

As Janne asked for a test with current trunk and increased video buffers,
I updated the test system to 0.22trunk (Revision 18525) and changed just
the line with videobuffers in the source code. Now 720p60 content does not
show any stutter, and the other recordings I have (plain NTSC SD and
1080i30) are playing without problems, too.

I did not think the stutter was CPU related. When playing 720p60
recordings, I usually see a CPU load of ca. 50% for mythfrontend and 20%
for X on my Pentium4. But when I run top with d 0.1 for an update every
1/10th of a second, I see spikes of up to 120% for mythfrontend.
