 on my laptop i run mythfrontend in a window.
 when watching a program and i move my mouse pointer out of the windows and
 another window gets focus, the mythfrontend window goes black. the program
 still plays and the sound continues.

 as the mouse pointer crosses the border into the mythfrontend window, the
 picture briefly appears.

 the only way to "fix" it is to exit the playing of the program and going
 back in again.
