 Note, also, that there's a setting, "Do not adjust volume" in the V4L card
 configuration screen, to tell Myth not to adjust the audio (including
 unmuting it) on frame grabber cards.

 Also, Janne just committed support for ALSA audio input for framegrabbers
 in trunk [21448].

 One or both of these will likely fix the issue for you.
