Comment(by terry at beam.ltd.uk):

 If I disable the GLX module in xorg.conf, then the system no longer
 crashes. However it no longer uses xvmc-vld video output ... It seems that
 MythTv? now "requires" OpenGL, at least when XvMC VLD is being used. Is
 this really the case ?
