 I first suspected the changes for #5890, but I've ruled those out.

  * This only happens when timestretch is enabled near the beginning of a
 recording.
  * It does not happen after any skipping.
  * It can be stopped by doing a pause/skip/unpause.
  * It is not stopped by a pause/unpause alone.
