 I did some timings and found I could shave 20ms per recording of the
 PlaybackBox loading time. I'm attaching a preliminary patch, some details
 still need to be worked out; like making sure we redraw after the preview
 generator finishes generating a preview for the currently selected
 recording. For me this shaves about 7 seconds off the time to enter "Watch
 Recordings", down to 50 ms.
