Comment:

 Yes, this is the current behavior.

 If you switch to using a mixing ALSA device for output, the music will
 continue playing - Which is probably not what you want either.

 However, this is unfortunately a feature request without at this time a
 patch.

 Please comment on this ticket only if you are developing the patch.
