 Currently a lot of themes are still referencing bitstream vera sans.  As
 per http://www.gnome.org/fonts/ these fonts are no longer developed and
 will likely be removed from distros in the future.  This has already
 happened for Ubuntu.

 The replacement fonts are the DejaVu family.  See http://dejavu-
 fonts.org/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page for more information.

 is to provide a wider range of characters while maintaining the original
 look and feel through the process of collaborative development (see
 authors), under a Free license. "
