It seems as though others ought to have noticed or documented this, but
Apple has apparently changed the codes for the Apple Remote buttons in
10.6.x:

I've attached a patch to libs/libmythui/AppleRemote.cpp incorporating the
new codes; the patch has been working for me for the last 2 months.
