 I didn't mean to imply the patch wasn't already applied, simply that based
 on my experience this bug can be validly marked as closed with this patch
 formally in place.

 It is certainly plausible other issues remain with firewire capture
 (particularly given variations in chipsets and drivers), but I have been
 fortunate not to have issues other than this one. In response to the
 question, I have not had an issue with firewire recordings failing
 midstream (aside from the occasional mpeg glitches). Once a successful
 firewire capture is initiated, it seems to consistently record for the
 full duration.
