 Additional information:

 If I SSH into into the frontend/backend computer, export the display
 (export DISPLAY=:0), and start the frontend (mythfrontend --service &) the
 rewind behavior stops. Of course this is not optimal since I need to run
 upstairs to my second computer every time I need to restart the frontend.
