 Same issue here, but not sure if it's transcoding or playback related.
 It's not consistent: if I try to playback the recording many times, it
 WILL suddently play once without any issues (I can also skip back and
 forward while playing). Perhaps a failure rate of 90%, but it will play
 sometimes.

 All of my recordings are automatically transcoded by MythTV from MPEG2
 (Hauppauge HW encoder) into MPEG4, so it should not be related to 2x
 transcoding, as I never trigger any manual transcodings.

 I've stripped out the first 20MB of one of the affected recordings:
