 We would be happy to have your patch, but can't leave long closed tickets
 open based on good intentions alone, it just makes trac unmanageable.
 Nobody is trying to stifle you, please do work on this and re-open when a
 patch is ready, that way we don't have any tickets sitting in limbo when
 it's hard enough to triage as it is.
