Comment:

 We don't support the start/stop init scripts at all.  Please work with the
 packagers on that.

 Please try starting by hand, and then killing the process by hand (Ctrl-C)
 and see if it reoccurs.  Also, please determine exactly how the init
 scripts are trying to kill it, and recreate by hand.  This will divorce
 the issue from the init scripts so we can determine the issue properly.
