Comment:

 Well, I tried both actimeo=1 and actimeo=0 with the result that it still
 exited playback if you hammer on the seek forward button. I also fiddled
 around so that the frontend cannot access the storage group, it then uses
 the backend to stream and the problem goes away.

 I'm quite happy to use this method but then maybe the wiki should be
 updated to deprecate NFS TV playback.
