The concept of a "threshold" is awfully reminiscent of 32-bit issues in
the past, however those have always been encountered at multiples of 2GB
or 4GB for obvious reasons. A brief test in Windows Media Player against
MythTV 0.26rc using several recordings between 5GB and 12GB in length did
not exhibit any such seeking issues.
MythTV records using the MPEG TS container, which many players have poor
or incomplete support for. Is it possible there was an error in the
recording you are using, or something strange in the timecodes, that
MythTV's internal player can handle but these other players cannot? Have
you tried playing the file in question in XBMC directly off the
filesystem, to rule it out as your source of error?
