Comment:

 I tested this multiple times today and it works exactly as expected, that
 is, as you describe in scenario 2.  This feature is widely used and
 abused, so much so, that if it was as broken as you describe, many other
 people would be complaining too.  I suspect you have something mis-
 configured on you system or you are doing something else you forgot or
 didn't know to mention.  If you still feel there is a bug, you'll need to
 provide many more details to help someone else reproduce the problem.
