Comment (by dan.garton@…):

 I am seeing the same issue, using a quad-channel DVB-S/S2 tuner (TBS6985).
 Using mythtv backend 0.27 from mythbuntu repositories, and either mythtv
 frontend (from same repos) or xbmc (from team-xbmc repo).

 For me, as above, the symptoms are: occasional "signal-loss-type"
 failures, ie block artifacts in video, and squeaks, pops and dropouts in
 the audio. While this is occurring, this is what I see in mythbackend.log:
 {{{
 Jan 21 17:43:08 jukes mythbackend: mythbackend[3488]: E DVBRead
 mpeg/mpegstreamdata.cpp:365 (AssemblePSIP) MPEGStream[3](0x7eff40364368):
 Error: offset>181, pes length & current cannot be queried
 Jan 21 17:44:12 mythbackend: last message repeated 17 times
 Jan 21 17:45:20 mythbackend: last message repeated 14 times
 Jan 21 17:45:49 mythbackend: last message repeated 6 times
 }}}

 Normally, the problem recovers within a minute or so, and the "signal"
 recovers. Still, it's really annoying and even a few seconds of that
 effect is enough to ruin a recording.

 I have never seen this problem when watching TV directly using a DVB-
 compatible player, eg Kaffeine etc.
