[mythtv] mythfilldatabase confusion

hello,
i'm just getting started with mythtv, and is coming along nicely

i've had big problems with mythfilldatabase though
i live in italy, and of course there's no tv_grab_it, but i managed 
to compile some information in a xml file.

the problem is, if i comment the line tv_grab_whatever from 
settings.txt filldatabase will not work. i've also tried 
mythfilldatabase --manual or --file but they still run the grabber 
and seem to ignore the external file - could it be i made some 
mistake during installation? (i use mythtv 0.7, not from cvs)

i also tried substituting tv_grab_uk with a script of mine that just 
outputs the xml file, but that didn't work either.

anyway, the only way i could fill the channels and programs database 
was to write my own script that talks directly to mysql

also, the 'settings' button in the frontend does nothing - maybe i 
missed some dependencies while compiling? i don't recall having error 
messages though.
