As a last resort, try the commercial OSS drivers.  I've had good results
with them in the past for other difficult cards.  I think you can
download a demo version before committing to the $25 license.  Also,
their support has been very good for me in the past -- their lead
developer/president built me about 10 experimental drivers inside of a
week trying to get my card/drivers working after a kernel upgrade broke
it.
