It doesn't stop writing to the ringbuffer.

In order to change the encoding parameters, you'd have to stop playing, tear
down the player completely, stop recording, tear down the encoder completely,
start the encoder, and finally start the player back up. Repeat for the
transition back to live tv. Messy, to say the least, and it's much easier to
say 'Let it record and go back to the main menu' and start watching once the
recording has started.

If people _really_ have a problem with the current behavior, I can always just
remove the ability to keep watching while it transitions from live tv to a
recording and back, as that would certainly simplify quite a bit of code and
make things nicer overall internally. I don't even want to contemplate
changing encoding parameters mid-stream.
