[mythtv] MythTV on Mac OS X

MythTV uses V4L, and MacOS X will never support this, so MythTV will
never run on MacOS X. It even says so on the website.

However, if the Fink project ports mplayer to MacOS X you could patch it
to be able to play MythTV recordings on your MacOS X machine. Otherwise,
you're only option is to use mencoder on Linux.

Subject: [mythtv] MythTV on Mac OS X

I wanted to know whether there has been any progress on getting MythTV
to work on PPC/Mac OS X? At the very least, I'd like to be able to
watch my recordings from a Mac OS X box, without having to convert them
first with mencoder.

Right now, I can use mythfrontend from OS X remotely via X11. I can't
watch recordings, but I can setup recordings, fix scheduling conflicts
and even see the previews of recordings. Interestingly enough, the
interface is more responsive doing this remotely via ssh than locally on
my Linux box!

Are we getting close to being able to run mythfrontend on Mac OS X? If
anyone needs help testing their efforts in this matter, please contact
me.
