If someone is going to implement an audio filter, don't do any processing
during the recording phase (data collection or whatnot), if at all
possible.  Besides that I don't think it will buy you much, managing that
data while doing commercial removal with the transcoder is sure to be a
PITA.  Also, it'd add more cpu load to my already stressed out system,
and is unlikely to work with the hardware encoders.  If this sort of data
is needed, perhaps something more like the commercial-flagger (which runs
after the recording is complete), would be better, though I'd still
prefer to push it all into the player.  Just that much less data to
manage.  Of course, since I'm not doing the work, do whatever you
like...just my two cents.
