I don't think "Algorithm" is the right lingo for a user of a
television recorder. She'd probably rather just see "Quality".
Despite the internal semantics (I too, visualized a low quality
algorithm copying memory unnecessarily ;-), the only thing a
disinterested user needs to know is:

quality=0..9.  0=best (very slow).  9=worst.
