[mythtv] Miro PCTV tuning/initialisation issues

Hi,
Running mythtv 1.3 on this box with a rather ancient Miro PCTV (pinnacle
bought miro IIRC) and I've got a rather intresting problem.

If I load the bttv module, than start mythbackend and mythfrontend and
go to watch tv, or record anything, the channel doesn't appear to be tuned
in properly - it's all grey and fuzzy. Now I know it's not a finetuning
issue because I'm using the settings from xawtv, which works just fine.

Now the intresting bit. If I drop out of watching live tv, so that the
video capture device isn't in use and I run xawtv the picture is fine. If
I then quit xawtv and go back to watching live tv in mythtv - it functions
perfectly (including changing channels), until it reinitialises the
video capture device, as it does when the backend goes to record
something, at which point it goes grey and staticy again. For the record,
I'm in the UK, using Europe-West frequency table in both mythtv and xawtv.
It's also worth noting that running `v4lctl setnorm pal` or `v4lctl
setchannel 55` has exactly the same effect on mythtv's tuning as running
xawtv.

So I'm thinking there's something in the initialisation code that xawtv
is doing that mythtv isn't - or vice versa. I've spent the last couple of
days poking at the code to both in the hope I could locate the problem and
patch it myself, but haven't come up with anything. (I'm really not all
that familiar with the v4l api).

Any thoughts are most welcome. I'll checkout latest CVS this evening and
have a poke at that, but I've not found anything similar in the archives,
so it looks like I'm the first person to come up against it. I'm quite
happy to hack away at it, but mythtv isn't exactly a small app and both
xawtv and mythtv both support multiple grabber apis, which makes life
rather tricky from my perspective :&)
