[mythtv] MythTV - DRI required?

Hi,
Is DRI required for MythTV live TV?

I went through the archives and contacted everyone who was getting a black screen with sound when they played, but was able to record ok, and I asked them for their system information.

The three people who have responded so far said are using RedHat 8.0 with an ATI Radeon 8500, with a variety of video capture cards and a variety of versions of MythTV (0.7, different CVS versions).

DRI is disabled for the ATI Radeon 8500 on Red Hat 8.0 ("nodri") (and earlier). Could that be the problem? 

Is anyone using an ATI Radeon 8500 video card and not having this problem?
If so, is DRI enabled?
