You could try the drivers from opensource.creative.com. The kernel version is
based off these but is usually lagging behind a bit. Also have a look at
emu-tools. Also, do you have arts running? It has a bad habit of choking
off /dev/dsp. The kernel sblive drivers are capable of full duplex with
several simultaneous samples so something fishy is going on there.
