You mean to have "News" channel, carrying the news broadcasts of all
channels, and an "Action" channel, accumulating the action movies and
series of all channels? Why would a channel be an appropriate
representation for that? How would that work? If I select the action
channel, would I jump in the middle of an arbitary action movie which
the PVR happened to place in that timeslot? Why would I want that? Or
would it start to play the highest ranked programme recorded for that
"channel" (really a category)? What, if I decide that I don't like that
action movie, but want to see another one? I can't get to the next one,
because that only runs 2 hours later, not?

Wouldn't it make more sense to have an additional Watch Recordings-type
dialog, where automatic recordings are listed by category and within the
category by rank? You'd then go to that dialog (instead of
"LiveTV"), select action (of the left), and see a listing of titles of
action programmes, sorted by descreasing ranking. If you want to do what
the virtual action channel described above does, you just have to press
Enter. Otherwise, you can browse through the titles and their
descriptions and see what you like most and see that.

Personally, I'd much prefer the latter way.

I disagree ;-) I have that with a normal TV. It should be very easy and
do what I want, though. ;-)
