I am not trying to change your mind, only to understand it. ;)

Are there any pointers to the reasoning (already checked the archives,
but maybe for the wrong keywords), or would someone care to comment a
bit?

"No binary packages of CVS": does that imply that source code packages
are fine?

P.S. Since nothing enteres my machines in non-rpm/deb form anymore, I
do package anything I install, even if I don't publish it.
