[mythtv] Porting the frontend to windows

I think a port of the whole frontend would be overkill. If you want a
dedicated frontend with remote control, etc... Windows doesn't really
have any advantages over Linux.

If you just want a way to watch the recorded shows remotely, I think the
best (and simplest) way to go would be to just get a Windows codec
written up that can play the MythTV .nuv files, then add a link in
MythWeb that would allow you to select shows and stream them into WMP.

Even if there is a need for a full frontend port, completing the Windows
codec first would be half the battle.

I'd volunteer to help work on it, but sadly I know squat about Windows
programming. I have been, though, toying with the idea of starting an
SDL based port of the frontend to run on Linux, which would get rid of
the requirement to have X running at all.

Subject: [mythtv] Porting the frontend to windows

I currently have a windows box by the TV to run all my games off the
HDTV
(sorry but BF1942 just don't play with the Tux). Since Myth uses QT,
I'm
assuming it would be very possible to port the frontend to windows,
leaving the backend/server running linux in the bedroom. I know a few
people have mentioned this in the past, but I don't recall it going
beyond chitchat. I think that a windows port of the frontend would
really be a big deal in a lot of eyes.
