I'm currently polishing up a patch to fix the incorrect reported length
problems in playback of recordings (and the attendant seeking
problems).

There's also a tiny bit of cleanup to get the correct PIDs from the PAT
rather than relying on convention as it does now. I believe I saw a
patch go by from DVB for better handling of multiple audio streams in a
program, so we could even pass auxilliary audio streams named in the
PAT. I'm hoping that someone who wants to get their feet wet would
step in here, as between your code and mine, it's pretty obvious how to
proceed here.

After that, I want to play around with the new filter API and see if I
can deinterlace into 1920x540 (half-height) frames rather than
deinterlacing to full-size (1920x1080) frames and then scaling to
960x540 in the video card. Should look better and be lower CPU usage
at the same time.

One last usability/stability change that needs addressing is that when
the frontend is stuck waiting for data ("Waited 2 seconds for data to
become available"), it will not respond to keypresses. This means that
changing to a station that does not work (reception issues, mostly),
means you have to kill/restart the whole frontend.

Whew! I went on there a little longer than I intended. Certainly for
the next week or so I'll only be working on the deinterlace/resolution
bit.

That would be cool, and should also lower CPU requirements. My mobo's
integrated audio (C-Media 9739) has SPDIF out, though I think I need a
2.6 kernel to use it.
