Ran into the issue of not being able to connect to a database on a remote backend, problem turned out to be /etc/mysql/my.cnf containing "skip-networking" which prevents network connections. Need to restart mysql after the change of course. Thought this might be a useful addition to the faq. Thanks, Chris
