Yes indeed. ACPI alarm wakeup recently started to work on my computer, so it 
is feasible to:

echo wakeup-date > /proc/acpi/alarm

For some people S3 (Suspend to Ram) works as well, so you can

echo 3 > /proc/acpi/sleep

For other people ACPI alarm doesn't work so some program like nvram-wakeup 
could work, but it can be inelegant because the computer needs to be rebooted 
before the wake-up time comes into effect.
