Wouldn't his mean the frontend itself exits?
That would mean you could get back and be staring at an empty screen 
without really knowing what went wrong.
Wouldn't it be better to pop up a dialog saying something like 
"connection to backend lost" and afterwards just returning to the main menu?

(not saying _you_ should implement this, just wondering if that wouldn't 
make for a "better user experience" ;-)
