I hate to chime in with a me too, but... Me too.

In my case my sql server resides on a seperate, not on the mythtv box,
server. The mysql server is Debian stable, masterbackend is Gentoo. For
me restarting the backend did not fix the problem, I had to restart
mysql on the server.

It has only happened once though.
