Here's the really weird part: When I run with --verbose all on mythfrontend
it never slows down and I could not replicate the original problem. I can
hear several pops, and what appears to be dropped audio (and maybe video)
frames every few seconds, but I don't get the constant slow flicker of sound
without --verbose all nor do I get the original error message. If I alt-tab
to the console out of the front end, then it'll start to slow down the video
and audio, but it fixes itself when I get back in myth. I assume this is
because the console is collecting and displaying information so quickly that
it slows down myth as a background process or something (I have no clue?).
Again, I tried running as root and it made no difference.

A little information about my system. AMD XP 3200+, 512GB 400MHz RAM,
nForce2 mobo w/optical spdif out using intel8x0 ALSA Drivers, plenty of disk
space.

Let me know if there's a better way you'd like me to find information you
need to help troubleshoot this problem.

In reply to:
Lets start with full verbose output and a description of your setup
including alsa devices, and whether it's spdiff out or not
