I wasn't clear.  The DisplaySize variable tells X what the real physical 
dimensions of your screen are.  My point was that *I* have to run my 
display in a non 4:3 resolution, however, the DisplaySize variable tells 
X that the actual physical dimensions of the screen are really 4:3, ie 
the pixels aren't square

In this same way it should be possible for people with plasma screens 
that have the funny 1024x1024 resolution to tell X that the plasma 
screen is actually 16:9 and not completely square!

Give it a whirl and see if that fixes your problem.  You can also use it 
to change your effective DPI which makes the myth fonts larger or smaller
